Challenge

SBM Directorate of Madhya Pradesh intended to improve the ranking of their ULBs in the district and state as a whole. For the same, QCI was invited to assist their 370 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) from 51 district headquarters for Swachh Survekshan 2019.

Approach

A team of 51 QCI professionals was deployed in all the district headquarters for a period of 2 months to streamline the work for Swachh Survekshan 2019. QCI professionals assisted and suggested required improvement to the ULBs of their respective districts, so as to improve overall performance in terms of Service Level Progress (SLP) documentation and on-site implementation of the SLP parameters. The team also supported the respective ULBs to enhance progress in Direct Observation and Citizen Feedback.

The team also promoted the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities and meeting across the ULBs to increase awareness about cleanliness, sanitation and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) among citizens and sanitation workers. Certain capacity building exercises were organised to help sanitation workers become self-driven and self-motivated towards cleanliness in their ULBs.

Outcome

All the initiatives taken by the team ensured the improvement in the overall scores as well as in various parameters.

QCI professionals also played a significant role in creating awareness amongst all sections of the society about the importance of cleanliness in their surroundings and Swachh Bharat Mission by organising various IEC activities, which in turn helped in improving the citizen feedback. After the continuous efforts of QCI professionals and support from the ULB officials the situation of SLP documentation and itson-site implementation improved drastically. The joint efforts for implementing the necessary solution and recommendation by QCI team benefited the ULBs in getting better scores in SS’19.
