Challenge
Improving the transparency and efficiency in warehousing has remained one of the primary objectives of Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC). In pursuit of that goal, CWC aimed to design, develop and implement a state-of-the-art CCTV surveillance system at 250 Food Grain warehouses across the country on a mission mode. The corporation had the sight to catalyze the adoption of the smart surveillance system by warehousing industry which shall promote increased standard of surveillance, greater oversight in warehouse management practices and explore the adoption of both emerging and existing technologies in the domain.
Approach
Quality Council of India performed a detailed study on the project and the following approach was adopted:
- Site study for identification of strategic locations minimizing blind spots, and optimizing CCTV component placement for comprehensive coverage.
- Rigorous stakeholder consultations and market studies to gather crucial insights, aligning the system with diverse needs. Study of AI, IOT sensors and other available technology to observe CWC’s use cases.
- Meticulous cost-benefit analysis to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising on the quality output and requirements of the project and considering future sustainability and expansion.
The systematic approach aimed at addressing the objective and vision of CWC through development of a design that fosters security, efficiency, transparency, and adaptability across all warehouses PAN India.
Outcome
Through PMC, Quality Council of India successfully added a layer of expertise and quality assurance to the entire process and formulated a solution design with the below features:
- Approx. 8,000 IP cameras infrastructure across 250 CWC warehouses
- Robust Alert Mechanism (alarms/notifications) via mobile application
- 24X7X365 live streaming for public viewing
- Integration of IoT enabled sensors and weather station
- Future readiness and scalable system
- apability of integration with AI, IoT and different IP based systems
