I came to QCI as a 22-year-old NRI who had never lived in India. The experience I had at such a young age was remarkable. On the daily I met with senior IAS bureaucrats and many times Ministers, juggling multiple projects at once, in the space of railways, rural development, civil aviation, and health.

My projects took me all over the country, from Ramgarh and Hazaribagh to develop the country’s first-ever district scorecard to assess welfare schemes all the way down to Chennai to train 120 assessors on sanitation parameters of Indian railway stations.

Every year I spent at QCI, I grew many folds because of the responsibilities I was given. My biggest learning was having my own team, managing them and taking ownership of their learning too. Lastly, the opportunity to work with Adil so closely was once in a lifetime and I am so grateful to him and fate that brought me to India after 22 years!

I was working with Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banker when the development sector bug bit me and I started to look for options where I could contribute to the growth of the country. The opportunity of working as a Project Manager at QCI – Chairman’s Office came at a very opportune time and led me to the two most exciting years of my career. I got a chance to work with the highest and the most influential offices in the country and lead some of the most challenging and transformational projects, which helped me hone excellent problem solving skills and get phenomenal exposure to stakeholder management.

Adil and SG’s mentorship along with the skills gained on the job have helped me shine and craft a career in strategy and consulting. I briefly worked on Public sector and logistics projects at the Boston Consulting group post-QCI. Currently, I am leading the MD’s Office for Future Consumer, a listed FMCG company in India.

My main motivation to join QCI was to work in an environment where I could create an impact, and it has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve ever taken. It was and continues to be one of the most fulfilling work experiences that I have had the privilege to be a part of, and more importantly creating a lasting impact. Walking across the hallways of those 20-Ministries in our first project, it was heartening to be able to add value at the highest levels of government and to build the credibility of this new, young team’s ability to deliver on critical and high impact government projects. And this lasting impact wouldn’t have been achieved without the trust that Mr. Adil and Dr. R P Singh had endowed on us, especially on me, during those early days of QCI.

I joined QCI back in 2016 when it had only been a year since the Chairman’s team had been formed. had heard some stellar things about the work QCI was doing for the government of India, from my friend, Abhinav Yadav, who is another distinguished alumnus of QCI. The work that he was doing at the moment was impactful and exciting.
At the same time, I was in the midst of a transition from Bangalore to Delhi. After hearing that QCI was looking to expand to work on government performance reforms, I was quick to reach and apply for a position.

During the time I spent at QCI, I got to work with several government sectors in Delhi as well as nation-wide. QCI gave me the chance to lead some impactful work. The experience was invaluable.

Coming from an established company with well-defined roles and expectations, I experienced a massive change while working at PPID. As the set-up of the PPID is similar to that of a start-up, I have worked less like a project manager and more like a start-up founder. From developing business with a new a client to hiring & staffing team on projects, I got the exposure of it all. These responsibilities gave me an incredibly well rounded & holistic experience and helped me grow immensely as a professional.

I was the third member to join PPID in September of 2015. As a project manager, I have worked across a variety of projects – both strategy and implementation. From learning how various ministries function to the execution of Swachh Survekshan, QCI has helped me grow both personally and professionally. QCI experience has helped me understand how government forms policies and implements them on the ground. The impact that my work has created has given me a lot of satisfaction. I feel QCI has provided me the wings to become a leader in the future and serve my country in a better manner.

I joined PPID in June of 2015. If I had to relate any one incident on how this place shaped my affinity towards being a part of impacting the governance of this country, it would be of my involvement with the DARPG project wherein we recommended systematic reforms to improve the quality of public services.“The fact that I could drive and actively work towards shaping the services of our country was overwhelming for me.”

I was a part of this project last year, and the data we compiled and analyzed was used to a great degree by Joint Secretaries from various ministries. This was overwhelming to me, just the fact that I could drive and actively work towards shaping our Country. That’s when I knew that this is what I wanted to do, and the PPID helped me realize that.

I joined QCI because I wanted to understand how India’s public sector worked, make an impact on the lives of people and work with the dynamic team at the then, newly formed “Chairman’s Office”.

I absolutely cherish my 2 years at QCI. This tenure took my career trajectory to a whole different level in terms of exposure and skillset.

On the exposure front, I had the opportunity to work on high impact schemes and policies, directly with ministers, bureaucrats and various private sector stakeholders. On the skillset side, my biggest takeaway was “Stakeholder management”. I learned the art of – how to bring various parties on the same page and continue to move ahead with execution – which is a skill that has continued to help me in business school.
